INDEPENDENT CONSULTANCY, SOLAR PV & STORAGE

89.445 kWp Solar PV Across Two Warehouses

One of our commercial solar PV case studies covers TIbard Ltd, which appointed Clean Energy Contractors to provide an independent consultancy-led approach of the energy requirements across two neigbouring warehouse buildings.

Rather than applying a standard system design, CEC reviewed each building separately, considering its electricity consumption, operating profile, available roof space, shading and opportunities for battery storage.

This independent approach allowed us to recommend the most appropriate solution for each warehouse, with clear technical and financial information provided before any commitment was made. The final designs comprised 44.055 kWp and 45.390 kWp solar PV arrays, delivering a combined installed capacity of 89.445 kWp.

Each warehouse was also provided with 15.36 kWh of battery storage, creating a total combined storage capacity of 30.72 kWh. The batteries help retain more of the solar electricity generated during periods of lower demand, allowing it to be used later instead of being unnecessarily exported to the grid.

CEC managed the project from initial feasibility and system design through to installation, commissioning and ongoing monitoring. Treating the buildings as two separate energy projects ensured that each system was properly matched to its own electrical demand and offered the strongest practical return.

Together, the systems are forecast to deliver combined annual electricity savings of approximately £13,135, while reducing Tibard’s reliance on grid electricity and supporting its long-term energy and carbon-reduction objectives.

SOLAR PV REMEDIATION & ASSET RECOVERY

220 kWp System Redesign

Following a serious electrical incident, Safenames needed a commercial solar PV specialist it could trust to independently assess and recover its 220 kWp rooftop installation. Understandably, confidence in the system had been badly affected.

Clean Energy Contractors was selected as the trusted partner of choice because of our specialist technical knowledge and more than 25 years of experience within the electrical and renewable-energy industries.

CEC began with an intrusive solar PV condition survey and a detailed, evidence-based assessment. We uncovered interconnected design and workmanship defects that could not have been resolved through routine maintenance.

These included severely mismatched string lengths, incorrect MPPT allocation, shaded and unshaded roof areas connected together, substandard DC terminations and inadequate cable management.

The original ballast arrangement was also found to contain approximately eight tonnes of unnecessary additional weight, potentially compromising the roof. CEC therefore completed a new engineered ballast and wind-loading assessment before safely redistributing and removing excess ballast.

ENERGY CONSULTANCY & FEASIBILITY

Solar PV & EV Infrastructure Study

Mastercall appointed Clean Energy Contractors to develop an independent, board-ready energy strategy for its leased premises in Stockport. The project required far more than a standard solar quotation.

The business needed to understand how commercial solar PV, workplace EV charging, fleet electrification, property ownership and the remaining lease term could be brought together within one commercially viable plan.

CEC reviewed the building’s electricity demand, operating profile, available roof space and fleet requirements. With five vehicles covering approximately 96,260 miles each year and a planned transition from petrol and hybrid vehicles to fully electric transport, it was essential to assess solar generation and EV charging as one integrated energy system.

Our recommended solution combined a 75.65 kWp roof-mounted solar PV array with three dual 22 kW EV chargers, providing six charging points. The system was forecast to generate approximately 58.47 MWh during its first year, with around 92% of the solar electricity used on site.
